It's been a while since I last posted a beauty-related entry. I've been swamped with work and music events, hence, a lot of posts about it. But anyway, here's another part of my Lipstick Collection, with swatches—MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam Ariana Grande lipstick!

According to MAC Cosmetics' website, Viva Glam was "created in 1994, the passionate red VIVA GLAM Lipstick raised money and awareness for HIV/AIDS at a time when the pandemic was dramatically affecting fashion communities in particular as well as the wider world. Then and today, an unprecedented 100% of the purchase price of any VIVA GLAM product goes toward the M·A·C AIDS Fund (minus VAT where applicable)".

MAC Cosmetics' first collaboration (there were 2) with Ariana Grande for the Viva Glam program collection was announced on the latter part of 2015. It was launched in January 2016 in the US and a few months later here in the Philippines. It included two lip products: a deep plum lipstick in a matte finish and a baby pink lip gloss (or lip glass, as what MAC Cosmetics would call it).

Back in grade school, I was definitely a fan of lip glosses. Now, I only wear matte lipsticks or on regular days, a lip tint. With that, the obvious choice for me is, of course, the matte lipstick.

So for the swatches, I kinda prepped myself. After work, I retouched my makeup and added a rose gold eye shadow and did a little contouring.

After those, it's time for the swatches!

The MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam Ariana Grande lipstick is a dark plum with cool and berry undertones. Contrary to their branding that it is a matte lipstick, it's not. When applied, it gives off a creamy texture, which is similar to a satin finish. To be honest, I did not read the early reviews because this apart from the good cause, I liked the color so much and it has Ariana Grande's name on it.

Like I said, I really liked the color, so I immediately purchased it. However, I noticed how it wasn't as pigmented as the usual MAC Cosmetics lipsticks that I have. You won't achieve the full color on one swipe; you have to put two-three coatings for it to look like a pure deep dark burgundy plum. Plus, it also is somewhat difficult to apply as it bleeds, so you have to apply it with a lip brush or a lip liner. Definitely a let down from MAC Cosmetics...

Anyway, here's how it looks on me when worn. This is after using a lip liner, blotting and applying like 3-4 layers of lipstick, just to achieve the color that I wanted.

If photos are not yet enough, well, I've got it covered, because I also took a quick video (before and after applying the lipstick), which is found below. Just don't mind my awkwardness. Lol. I don't think I will ever be a vlogger because of that. 😅

 Tip: Use a lip primer to moisturize and prolong the color in your lips!
